Hi! I just been infected with Trojan virus named Exploit. I jsut want to know if this virus is Mild or very dangereous.
Secondly, I have been scanning all the C:\ drive and spotted one file in the application java that was infected and I deleted it. And when I scanned again, it says 0 item infected. Could I rest assured that no more files in my computer affected with virus (or in another words all virus is completely removed)?
Lastly, is Formatting my computer necessary to make sure all files is free from virus?
Thank you and please help me by answerng all these 3 questions above. Thank you once again.

Ok, first off. Turn off system restore. A common place for viruses to hide is in a backup, so virus scanners cant fix them. Do this by right clicking on "My Computer" and going to properties. Then, goto the system restore tab and make sure it is turned off. Then, reboot in safe mode, scan from safe mode, this way viruses wont have time to load into the computer before you can scan. This is also another good key idea to try. Then, finally I will say, download, update, and run these programs reguarly. This is a great idea to do before you get problems, trust me, they pay off!

1. I can't give you a description of what the virus does without its exact name. The name isn't exploit. The name would be longer, something like this: IIS.Beavuh-Exploit. If you give me the EXACT name of the virus, I will tell you everthing there is to know about it.
2.No, you cant rest assured, not untill you do everything I have told you. You should be updating your operating system to, if any of the programs I mentioned and your operating system are out dated, then you are an easy target. Even with all of them, there is still potential. However, the likly hood is very very rare. Make sure that you only download from trusted sites also. Practice common sense here. Dont open emails from people you dont know, etc...
3.Formatting is not nessacary. The firewall will control what applications access the internet. If you can control this, then the trojan will be rendered useless. Second, if you are scanning with everything I mentioned, ontop of this use an antivirus program, then your pc will be clean. Just make sure everything is updated, including your operating system. Also, you could go here and run the ShieldsUp test on all open ports. This will take about 5mins to test all open ports. But it will let you know if your PC is open to attack via the internet. Also, use shoot the messenger. Let me know if this helps, or if you need more help.

you need to be a bit more descriptive.
Is it a virus or just a hacking tool ? if its the latter then deleting it will remove it (it was probably harmless anyway)

In addition to Ad-aware and Spybot you might want to look at HijackThis! If you go to this link:
http://www.myhelpdesk.org/spyware
It has links to all these programs. As the person above said, you have to give the exact virus name in order to tell what it is. You need to scan for spyware, virus and Browser hijackers. The link I gave takes care of Spyware and hijacking, you will also want to look at AVG from www.grisoft.com as it is free and has an outlook plugin. I use it here and it works great.
