Hi, I am trying to clean up a friends computer that was riddled with spyware, adware, viruses etc., and added more RAM but it still is running slow. It's a Packard Bell that I was told could only accept 32Mb in each of the two memory slots. I have a copy of the Hijackthis log file if anyone wants to look at it. I would really appreciate it. Thanks, RedDawg

While you could have background programs running consuming CPU, your friend may be up against the wall. PB video are notorious for stealing memory. As much as 32 MB? could be diverted to video. Download a startup manager such as codestuff starter and try killing every process except those required. It may help but I doubt it. It's probably most noticeable when surfing the web. It may be time to bite the bullet.

Thanks gilhoulisreef, I have the fewest possible processes running so I guess I'm out of luck. Is there anyway possible of getting more memory into these systems? RedDawg
