|NOT a good idea to do the restore as suggested in post #2 as you will lose your "10 years of work docs". The live (Linux) disk is a good start though as it will let you access the data and back it up to an external drive, which is the first thing you should be looking at doing. Do a Google for Ubuntu or Kaspersky Rescue disk - both will be downloadable images of Linux disks which you can boot from. The Kaspersky disk can also be used to scan the computer to see if it can find the nasty, but only after you've got your documents back.|
