I would really appreciate info on deleting or fixing write protected files/currently in use files.

I caught the "PARITE.A, Win32.Parite.b, W32.Pinfi virus". NAV fixes most of the infected files but won't it touch a few of them (LSASS.exe & SGA1.TMP). Trend Micro 'System Cleaner' doesn't work either.

I tried to delete the PINF registry key in the right pane of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer but it does not exist in my registry. I did an entire registry search/find and it came up blank.

The unhidden and viewable files I want to kill come upwith an error when I try to delete them. The error states: "Cannot delete 'file':Access is denied. Make sure disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use"

This obviously happens also when I try to delete all files in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP and C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temp

Task manager's 'end process' won't end the process on LSASS.exe because it says it's a critical system process.

HOW DO I DELETE/FIX THEM?

I KNOW I PROB SHOULDN'T DELETE LSASS.exe ANYWAY SO I NOW AM STUCK. PLEASE HELP!

Solution 1: Try entering safe mode, run your antivirus from there, and if it doesn't work, try to delete the files manually. This should work.

Solution 2: Boot from a clean disk (boot CD-ROM/floppy), prefferably a windows98 or Millenium, which would give you access to the dos prompt. You can then delete the files manually, but you can't touch the registry. the syntax is "del [path]\filename.ext". e.g.: "del c:\windows\temp\file.tmp"

I think that you use WinXP. All these work fine for me on Win98SE, but I don't think it should be all that different for you.
