Today, for some reason, in my system tray, there is an icon that
I didn't
recognize. I right clicked on it to see what it was. Its called
Pervasive.SQL 2000 Workstation. There is a company name and when
I went to
their website, I got this info which doesn't tell me what it
really is:What We Do
Pervasive Software embedded data-management solutions power
mission-critical
software applications around the globe. With over 5 million
server seats
deployed and partnerships with 10,000 independent software
vendors,
value-added resellers and systems integrators in more than 100
countries,
Pervasive is relied upon by thousands worldwide to provide the
solutions
they need to be successful. We are guided by a philosophy of
offering an
integrated ecosystem of data-management solutions that deliver
speed, value
and reliability to drive business success.
Our flagship database engine, Pervasive.SQL(tm), is unique to the
industry,
offering both transactional and relational access. Embeddable
with a small
footprint, it requires no tweaking, monitoring or daily checking,
ensuring a
low total cost of ownership in a high-performance engine.
The really odd part is that when I do a search for that file, it
does not
appear anywhere on my C drive. I wonder what it is, and I wonder
what
happens if I can find out how to get rid of it. I feel like it's
name is
all I need to know about it. NortonAV has no problem with it, I
guess,
since it scanned and didn't find anything.Have you ever heard of it, or of a company called Pervasive
Software Inc.?
