Perfh009.dat is this a virus

June 26, 2009 at 12:12:14
Specs: Microsoft Windows xp professional, 1.5 GHz / 2037 MB
One of my friends contracted a virus on their
machine. Immediately I ran NOD32 which
indicated that it found a threat, but it didn't
seem to remove it. So I downloaded AVG
which found some threats and that eliminated
some threats. I than decided to reboot the
computer in safe mode and run a scan, but no
success. Every time I tried to start in safe
mode it would return to the screen giving me
the option for safe mode last known
config,start windows normally etc.. The
computer started normally ,but was very slow I
manually deleted suspicious files that were
running and using a lot of memory. Something
still seemed strange so I tried the safe mode a
few more times and still no success. I
rebooted the computer but this time from my
flash stick to run bitdefender. Bitdefender
found the threats and deleted them however at
the end it said the file in
windows/system32/perfh009.dat could not be
scan due permission issues . Could this
perfh000.dat be a virus? if so how do i resolve
? please get back to me sorry for the long
post.

more viruses were found and removed by antvira antivirus
software. I used the Hijack site you gave me which was great.
However the computer is still running slow. I did a disk clean up
any other suggestions?
