Ok I got this pc-cillin 2002 with my motherboard , I installed it but it wont update anymore and I just got an email from trendmicro saying my "trial" period is over , but I was under the idea nthat this was a full version , so here are the questions:

1)Is my pc-cillin really kinda dead , now that I cant get any updates or is it a problem with the update server.

2)If I need to get another AV , what should it be..(needs to be cheapish and very good and not a CPU hogger)

It's not free per se. You can only hv automatic & free updates up to a certain period of time. After that you have to pay a subscription fee on an annual basis. If you are not in the "dangerous surfers" category, suggest you go for Grisoft Anti Virus (Free Version).

It came packaged with my motherboard as well but I've never had a problem with updates or e-mails from Trend. I reinstalled it a couple of times for various reasons which might have restarted the trial period.

I've switched to AVG now anyway. PC-Cillin was taking an absolute age to start up.

I like pccillin. Never had any problems with it or any viruses (knock on wood). My starts instantly with no delay. If you have the firewall installed, that could cause a delay.

I thought it was a 30 day trial for the version that came with my ASUS mobo. I had another version that came with an msi video card that worked for over three months (and I did purchase from this one). Maybe they bundle different trials with different products? Maybe some even have a full year.

I think my last upgrade / license extension was $24.00.

typically those bundled copies carry a 30-90 day subscription period. After that, their update services expire, just like most full versions after a year.
