I am pursuit of the ultimate tied up, locked down, safe haven pc that i can create. I am trying a variety of software. My AV is NOD32, I have a router(firewalled), Spywareblaster installed, Spyware Guard installed, Stopzilla, Microsoft AntiSpyware, Spybot TeaTimer. These all monitor realtime. I also used Adaware and Spybot. I use Mozilla Firefox, and have uninstalled IE.
But b**ger me i still fail some of the tests on this software i got from here.
http://www.tucows.com/preview/393891.html

I pass both the hacking tests but only get 25% in the virus and 50% in the spyware catagory.

Am i missing something or is this test program just gash?

Thanks

Darren

Just thought i'd add something for the detectives out there. When getting the results from PC Security Test 2005, it advises you to download a product like(!) Viruskeeper 2005.
I maybe be a little paranoid but the similarity between the two webpages is suss to say the least.

http://www.viruskeeper.com/us/index.htm

Shockingly after installing Viruskeeper 2005 i acheived 100% on all tests.

thanks

Looks like a whole lot of snake oil to me. Even if that program does exactly what it claims to, there is no documentation on the publisher's webpage or with the program itself that gives even a hint about what it actually does. How can you know if it's "checks computer security", as they say, if you don't know what it's checking for? And what is "50% virus protection? LOL :)

Seems like they created "PC Security Test" to scare people into buying "Viruskeeper". Those crazy French ;)

Thanks guys for that. So frustrating. Does anyone know of a website or software that will do a complete check on your system to see how secure it is?

Thanks

Darren

Hi guys, although I knew that Viruskeeper and the PC Security test are from the same software publisher AxBx I gave Viruskeeper 2005 a try and bought it a few months ago.

Like Twisterfreak I also use NOD32 and tried following real-time protection tools: Spywareguard, Spywareblaster, Winpatrol, Webroot Spysweeper, Lavasoft Ad-aware, Pest patrol, Giant and Trojanhunter 4.

I achieved the best results (75%) with NOD32, Winpatrol and Trojanhunter.

All other tools realy failed...

Viruskeeper did 100%.

However - now that I am using Viruskeeper 2005 for a while I realy can recommend it.

I have run Viruskeeper for weeks simultaneous with above mentioned real-time tools and Viruskeeper did a great job and informed me about any changes or attacks as well. It also does not use many resources...

An outfit with a phone number like 9999999999 must have something to hide.

Hi, i have visited some of the sites you guys recommended and i feel more comfortable allowing them to test my security. I can't comment on Viruskeeper 2005, but find it suspicious that it is involved with PC Security Test 2005.
Everyone should try all the links above, because there is some fantastic information there.

Thanks
Darren
