PC Makes Clonstant Clicking Noise

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Prof, 1.00 GB
I have a cable internet connection. My computer has been constantly makes a clicking noise for about a month now. It is the EXACT same noise you when you click the back button, or a link. Except this does the noise every few seconds or so no matter what I am doing. My suspisions are a virus, but I've done every virus scan you can think of. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

is the noise through the speakers or the system speaker?

Try disabling the sound themes (for now). Go to the Control Panel, click Sounds and Audio Devices, click the Sounds tab, and under Sound Scheme, select No Sounds. Click Apply. Do you still hear the noise? If you don't try reenabling it again. Just select Windows Default under Sound Schemes.
