Hi There
About a week ago PC - cillin's virus\malaware scan detected a file TROJ_ZLOB.DNP It recommended quarantine so I selected that. I rescanned and nothing showed up. Just today the regular virus\malaware scan again detected the same file in C:|System Volume Information\_restore then a series of numbers\letters that I couldn't make out because it wouldn't allow me to enlarge the PC-cillin pop up window. Also the choices for delete, quarantine, etc were grayed out, so unaccessible and it had no recommendation. Not sure what to do about this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx
TB

sounds like you'll have to turn off system restore to remove it with your AV. Be sure to reboot and turn restore back on after removal so you can have some points to fall back on if you have more troubles.

you may also want to run this free Active X scan:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/xscan.php
and remove all it finds.
It may seem to stall....but give it a few minutes because it is loading up new definitions.

Thx XPU4R for the quick response

Just to clarify...

Is the process just turning off system restore then rebooting and rescanning. After removal turn back on system restore and reboot. Reason I ask is because when I go to turn off system restore I get the message...

"You have chosen to tun off system restore. If you continue all existing restore points will be deleted and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer. Do you want to turn off system restore?"

Maybe that's just a standard message but I don't know so I just thought I'd check\clarify b4 I did it.

Thx again
Tim

Hi,
You will lose all your restore points by turning off sys restore, but as you stated
**Just today the regular virus\malaware scan again detected the same file in C:|System Volume Information\_restore**
which shows the trojan is locked in there, so every time you remove and reboot without turning it off, it will always return.

By turning it off...you should get rid of the problem, so after removal....reboot the PC, scan again and see if it's still in there (which it should be gone)
If it is gone, then turn system restore back on.

I would suggest you click on the link in my sig and use the cleaners listed before rescanning with your AV.
Good Luck

I kept getting Zlob but it was cleaned up by Spybot and Superantispyware.
