Sometimes when I start up my pc the screen displays a loading bar which gets to 50% and then appears to freeze and doesn’t start up which results in it having to be restarted manually. It has being doing this more frequently over the past month and it’s becoming an annoyance. Also most of the time when I actually do manage to get logged into my pc a message is displayed stating
“Start advanced video fx engine application has stopped working”
And when it finally gives the option to debug it I do so but a get a very long error message and then I just have to click it off but that doesn’t seem to effect anything that I’m aware of its just once again very annoying every time I log on.
The one other thing that has become a problem is with certain direct downloads over the internet, with some downloads for instance when I tried to download the Firefox internet browser I would click the download link and instead of seeing the “run” “save” option a white box shows itself then closes and it happens every time I click the download link although this doesn’t happen with every direct download just some. Please help,
Thank you.

try typing "sfc /scannow" into the "start search" dialogue box at the bottom of the start menu. It checks for corrupted sys files and attempts to repair them.
Apart from that, make sure you have done all of the windows updates. With regards to the video error, try reinstalling you graphics drivers/software.

Do you get the same sort of problem when using Internet Explorer?
