hi,
i travel a lot and have an external hard drive wich i would like to protect and sub protect so they can borrow it for say music or movies but they cant't go into my personal stuff.

Who is "They?" Set permissions so that only you have access to the personal folder.

hi

with they i mean other people in the hostel who use my drive to watch movies on their laptop i don't have a laptop
but i don't want them to go to all my stuff if i can have a few paswords say a main one on the drive, one for the movies and one for my personal stuff so i gave them the password to the movie file

If you don't want to set permissions, then you'll need to install a third-party software that allows you to password-protect folders. Google should help.
