Hi is it possible to password protect my EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE? I want to do this so when i got to someone elses computer it promts for a password. i have herd of third party softwares but dont they jus work when tha hard drive is in ur own computer because the software is installed on that computer. so when u got to another compuer it wont ask u for a password...
i have one idea can some tell me if might work.. waht if i install tha third party software on tha EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE itself? so dont need to worry when goin on a different pc coz tha software is already on tha external hard drive??
i might not have been very clear let me no if am not.

It is possible to protect an HDD, I use PGP Disk BUT, and it IS a BUT, you must have PGP installed on any machine to which you connect your HDD & if you think about it that is going to be the same for any software. With PGP I keep a copy on the HDD so I can install it on any PC I connect to and my sensitive data is stored in an emcrypted file which can be seen but not opened. HTH, Regards.
