I suggest you make up your own password. If you use a password that is generated by a program then others can use programs to figure out your password. I'm sure others will give their opinions but I would never use a software generated password and it is always a good thing to change your password from time to time.

Kevin is right...and you are right, he is one of the best "answer man" on the forum...

I suggest you creat your own using a combination of upper/lower case letters, numbers and special characters...

Example $mi9QB6%
This would be pretty hard to crack...but It's also pretty hard to remember...

Or another way...use a combination of two words that have no relation to each other...
Example maplebike
This will be easier to crack than the other example...

Then you could expand on this...
Example $maple_bike this pw just got harder to crack but still pretty easy to remember...

I "standardize" my pw's by using certain combinations of characters happening at certain points in the pw...
Example...you might start all pw's with $ and end with & and have 1 capital letter with a total of 8 characters...

The possibilities are unlimited...

Good luck
Steve

One friend has a chart on his wall. It has 20 rows of 20 random letters and numbers and a few special characters. When he needs a password, he picks a row, column or diagonal, direction and starting letter. This way he only has to remember where he started and the direction and number of characters. It is always in plain site and secure as he is the only one who knows where he started.

Software Password Generators aren't a bad way of creating a password. Just look for software that use "Crypto API". Its just a plug-in for software that generates random bits. But whatever software you use is fine. Personally I like to find software that doesn't have to be installed. Just a small executable. One piece of software that you should use is Password Safe!

I believe it also can generate passwords but don't quote me on that. What it does is creates a list of usernames, passwords and encrypts that list with one password. This way your whole list is encrypted, and you don't have to remember each password. If your not too paranoid, you can use the function to copy the password to the clipboard and just cut-and-paste. I like the program because of it's small size.
