password breaking

Specs: Windows Vista
a guy sold me toshiba satellite. he left the password locked on it. i cant get in touch with him. how can i get pass the password? it boots up just fine but when it gets to the administrator password i cant get in. any ideas?

Just go back to the seller and ask for the password.

bob: i use an app called Winternals. It is essentially an entire operating system that runs from a CD. You boot from the CD to run an OS, but it gives you control of the HDD(s) for all sorts of administrative options, including HDD tests and admin password resets.

Do you have another PC available? Try googling for Winternals and see if you can find a download.

you mean that there's no password on the BIOS, just the OS right? If the problem is an OS password from the previous user, why not just reinstall the whole OS and start fresh anyway?
