I allways keep my startup clean, Rich Mentzel and my internet does not move slow because of it, and jabuck, i clean my computer of temp files regurally. those were also the first things I thought about. But U don t understand. Every time I reinstall my windows I take out the interneet cable out uf my cable modem and put it back in after I install panda with its firewall and AV. I am almost certain that s not the problem. If I uninstall panda it takes about 5-10 seconds to start windows from the logon screen. I install panda and now it takes me 1-3 minutes. each and every time I do it. I also thugh that my windows is acting up but it seems it s not the case. But did any of you have the same problem or is it just me?
Thanks 4 trying to help me btw :)

For any one that reads my post: I have installed panda done all the necessary updating, scanning etc and my computer boots really really really slow. It takes about 1-3 minutes to switch from my welcome screen to my windows desktop. I would like to know from other panda users if they have the same problem, did they have it and what version are they using. i have panda titanium antiirus 4.02 and it is great except for the booting part. I know the computer boots ok on a 3000+ cpu. But I don t think panda has there high requirements
Thank U

Since you are using Panda Titanium 4.02, did you make sure that the XP Firewall was enabled before you connected the internet cable and installed Titanium. There is no firewall as part of Titanium, it is just an anti-virus program and has no firewall. Platinum is the program that has Panda's firewall as part of its security suite

I use the Panda Platinum Internet Security suite and it also takes a long time for my computer to start up. It's because I have it set to scan the memory every time it starts up before it loads to much to make sure nothing is getting loaded before being caught that may include a virus. You can turn that off in the scan settings I believe. On mine it is called the Windows Startup scan and is scheduled every time the computer starts. You can disable this if you want.

Thx guys for trying.

First of all panda titanium antivirus does contain a forewall based on sygate technologies as well as panda platinum.
Second of all I did not find that option in panda titanium. I only found flooby and boot scand on system SHUTDOWN.
The thing is that I am worried that I might be the only one with this problem.
I don t know what to do. Is there smth wrong with my computer or panda is really insane?
I heard that panda s engine start before windows and that s part of what makes it such a good av.
Any ideas are welcome :)

In the Platinum suite that option is under something called scheduled scans. Do you have anything similar on Titanium? Look under the scheduled scans if you can find it and look for one called windows startup. Other than that I don't know what it might be. If you can't find it post back and next time I start up my computer I'll disable the startup scan temporarily and see if it still takes a long time to load. Maybe that's just a quirk of Panda. I've only had it for a couple of weeks so I don't know for sure if that's it.

unfortunately I found ni such thing on panda titanium, i also have platinum, so i installed it to see if it boots faster. I found out it is unremovable. I know u can set it not to scan on system startup for maximum 255 (i think) days. But it is the same thing. I am really thinking of overclocking the cpu because i noticed that it boots a lot faster with an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ that is also using panda titanium. Do u have any idea how far can I go with the overclocking so that I don t burn my cpu?
thanks

I didn't know there was a day limit on disabling the startup scan. As for the overclocking I'm afraid I can't help you with that one. That kind of stuff is beyond me. Maybe somebody will come along and help you with that one. You may want to start a new thread on that though to get some peoples attention. Good luck.

Thanks a lot anyway

I wonder: can u please try to disable ur startup scan and tell me how it boots, and while ur at it, tell me: have u installed web filtering, and if you have, how can u not have to enter ur password so u can get internet acces.
And i don t think I m going to overclock my CPU because I ve talked to my vendor s support dep. and they didn t recommend it and I don t wanna risk burning it

Okay, I temporarily disabled the start up scan and it did start somewhat faster but was still slower than before I installed the Panda software. Apparently it is just taking a while to load the Panda security suite. I rarely turn my computer off so it doesn't bother me much. As for the web filtering I don't have that installed but it seems like you would have to enter your password each time in order for it to know who is using the computer, in case there are different levels of filtering allowed for different people. I think you can just click on the web filtering tab and disable it if you want.

Just to let you know ShaE you are not the only person to have experienced problems with this product. I for one had slow loading times on windows and every couple of seconds keep being disconnected from my router.

Once I took Panda off my system it ran fine like it should. So I am now using Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal and that’s the best move I have mad.

Regards,

Matt
