Hi
I have recently had proiblems accessing the internet with my pc.
I cant get any web pages up keep getting page not found unless I type in say skynews into the search bar on the google toolbar, this will give all the typical results but when you click on one again you get the page not found.
It is the same results with ie or mozilla.
I have scanned with noadaware, spybot, microsft antispyware,cw shredder and the trend one. They come up with nothing.
The pc has a wireless connection but that is all working fine its just the pc as the laptop works fine.
I have also ran winsockfix, which seemed to work temporarily for about 5 minutes, but then back to the same problem.

Any ideas ?

Thanks
Dave

Repair IE6

Windows XP comes with Internet Explorer 6. Microsoft has made IE part of the core operating system. If you think IE is screwed up, and want to repair it, you must use the sfc command:

Start > Run, copy & paste > Sfc /scannow & press Enter.
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
This will scan and restore protected system files ( which IE is )

As an aside, do you mean noadaware or noadware?
If you mean the latter it is shown here as a rogue anti-malware product, which pushes dubious other products:
ROGUE ANTI-MALWARE PROGRAMS

It's up to you but I would probably dump it and use something else, such as Ad-Aware (if you are not already using it).

Here's a freebie trojan finder/fixer that has no such hang-ups which you might care to try:

It sounds as though you have a winsock hijacker, maybe new.net.

First go to start>control panel>add/remove programs and uninstall these if listed:

SaveNow

New.Net

NewDotNet

WhenUShop

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified. You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.

Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor at this forum.

Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.
