ok, i have an SMC router which i have had for about 4 months, and since i got it, i have been trying to open ports on it.

I know how to get to the setup page, but i cant figure out how to open the ports. It gives me the choice to enter it in....Virtual server, Client filtering or Special Appz. i am not sure were to put it...i want to open port 21 for my FTP server. as well as some other ports for Gamespy Arcade. Any help with this would be apreciated.

Try going to Settings>advanced settings> virtual server. Make your private ip mapped to port 21 then go to the public port and put in 21. Make sure you select TCP. This will map all port 21 from the outside of your router to your fake ip address on your client pc. You must make sure that the ip address in the left side is the one from your pc. I also don't know what would happend if you tried to do this with more that one pc with the same port. Most routers can not port route the same port to multiple inside addresses. But I have no experience with SMC so hope this helps.

Ports you have to use for GameSpy Arcade

If you are using a firewall/router you need to open these ports to use GSA : TCP Client 47624 Outbound, Host 47624 Inbound, TCP 2300-2400 Inbound And Outbound and UDP Connections: 2300-2400. Also if your trying to use X-Box you will need to open 6700 UDP and TCP.
