I haven't seen much mention of M$ OneCare recently. I'm in the UK so we're not (as far as I'm aware) officially supported by the beta yet, guess we might not be anyway. I've been using the Defender beta with no problems & I've been installing it on any systems which can take it but my own AV is due to expire next month and I'd like to try a real 'all-in-one' alternative so has anyone got any recent news/advice on OneCare or other options (not directly asking XPUser of course ;-) (Oh, apart from ZA Security Suite)

Here is a recent example from another forum to show you what to expect from using "Microsoft" or "Symantec(Norton). And it is completely unexceptable.

I take that as a 'not recommended' then?

Is there any 'all-in one' suite that does do a decent job of background scanning for AV & spyware? & it must be able to monitor & schedule-scan - most users forget to use Adaware etc.

Yes, if you want a suite, i would recommend these 2.

F-secure
KIS 2006 (Kaspersky)

I've used F-secure for over 2 years and it's a very good suite.I've also been trialing KIS 2006 on another snapshot and am very impressed with it.The beta is final and is scheduled for official release for download on May 15th/06.You can still download the latest beta version and test it until then.

I agree with Murr about Kaspersky. My ISP supplies F-Secure at no charge for up to three computers. I use it on three systems. It is very good, but it is a little heavier in resource usage than Kaspersky, which I have installed on all my relatives systems(my three kids and brother), and my one system that the ISP does not provide with F-Secure.

Thanks for that. Previously been toying with getting Kaspersky AV, didn't realise they were in the process of producing a suite so that sorts it for me.
