Ok...there are lot of good AV's..but there is something in AVG that i have not seen in any other AV...
a couple of days ago i was "experimenting" with my av and trojan hunter...i just do some tests from time to time just to make me satisfy that i am protected....i copied some trojans from a cd...AVG instantly detected these even though AVG is not a trojan hunter...so in order to access them i unloaded AVG from the memory as it was not letting me access those trojans..but it surprised me that it was still blocking me..i removed the startup option of AVG with the windows...restarted....and i was surprised that even when it was not running in memory..AVG was still blocking me from accessing the trojan...i had to uninstall AVG in order to access those trojans...and that quality i have not seen in any other AV.

and what does that mean???it means that if some trjan or virus ever succeeded in removing AVG from memory..it will still fight back...thats why i call it "one hell of a determined Antivirus"

It means that you haven't fully unloaded AVG .. you just unloaded the resident shield ( avgcc32.exe )
There is also the Avg server loaded into memory ..thats for emails .... its a static vxd file ... if you manually remove it, then your computer will not boot up. I have tried that before. The only way to fully unloded AVG is to either uninstall or ... on an nt computer ..you disable it from Services.
