Hey, everyone. I'm running ewido (with Resident Shield activated) Ad-Aware Personal (I don't think this runs anything in the background, correct me if I'm wrong), Spybot, Spyware Blaster, Spyware Guard.
I figured that the more protection the better, but I'm wondering if any of these programs might conflict with one another? The only ones that do anything besides scan are Spybot, ewido, Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster. As I'm sure you all know, Spybot and SpywareBlaster simply write values to the registry to block ad/spyware, so that seems pretty safe, however both Spyware Guard and ewido use resident shield type of approach.
Thanks.

I run no anti-spyware programs in the background, just NOD32 and BOClean, and they've never really had anything to do.
I run (up to date) Gecko based browsers and haven't had any malware problems or any detected in over five years.
NOD has "alerted" a few times on "IE exploits" having been cached by my browsers, but they have absolutely no effect on Firefox or SeaMonkey anyway whether I let NOD "clean" them or not.
I run Spybot and AdAware scans from time to time, but they never find anything.

Thanks.
Hmmm...Windows Defender. I've heard of it, but never really given it a look. Now may be the time.
To be honest, in the last 3 or 4 years, the most I've had in the way of spyware/adware was a browser hijacking (CoolWebSearch, I think) and a few tracking cookies (which are meaningless to me, anyway, as I clear my cache every day with CCLeaner). Hopefully I haven't jinxed myself.

Windows Defender is what remains of Giant.Microsoft bought it,neutered it,and re-named it twice(MicroSoft Anti Spyware beta was it's name first).
It's a space waster!
AdAware Personal is a scanner only. The Pro and Plus versions may both have a monitor.
SUPERAntispyware and Zero Spyware both have free, clean scanners also.Take Care,
JB.
