Comment: Hi all, I have just ran AVG 7 free version and it has found 2 occurrences of OpenStream on my system of which only 1 can be vaulted. I've Googled and have found plenty yet very little. Anyone got the straight forward solution to remove it? Regards M

Reply: (edit)Follow standard instructions to first Disable System Restore and reboot. After system restore files are deleted, reboot in to Safe Mode and run a full Virus scan again and remove any infection still detected. Then reboot into normal mode and run an on line virus scan like HouseCall_AV. Then enable System Restore.

Reply: (edit)JackG I'm running Win98, System Restore? Perhaps I should have asked if anyone has successfully removed this. I am running an online virus scan from Panda as I type but looking at what it's scanned so far I reckon it's missed it. Has anyone successfully removed Java/OpenStream and by what method? Regards M

Reply: (edit)Good luck with that 'system restore' I've had good results with Panda's online scan - it outperformed both Nod32 and Hauri in cleaning up after an outbreak of PE_Spaces. They are certainly aware of the bug Might want to try a trojan hunter like A2Free or similar. I'm not insensitive, I just don't care.

Reply: (edit)You may want to see if you have the Java plugin icon in your control panel of Win98. Open it (dbl click) and then click on the cache tab at the top. Now clear the java cache and rescan (offline). It should help you get the lil pest out. For future reference (my opinion only) do not use IE. Cheers aeq
