Hi - excuse my lack of technical knowhow while explaining this...!

I have a windows 98 PC with NTL broadband. I used to have the free Zone Alarm firewall installed, but after a while it stopped working. So I stripped this off the system and loaded Kerio Personal Firewall - and this doesn't work either. It appears to load on start-up, but then nothing happens.

Sorry if this is a daft question!
Cheers

If you don't have the Sheild on the System Tray then go to Start All Progs and Click on the Kerio Engine

That will put it on the System Tray

Then Right Click the Icon on the Tray and select Administration

Then look on the Miscellaneous Tab and you see a Setting for 'Start Firewall Engine Automatically on Windows StartUp' - put the spot in there

Do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete and See if the service Smc.exe is running. If it is then the firewall is running. There is an option in Sygate to hide the task bar icon ( under tools/options then select the genral tab) ; make sure its not just that selected.
