I am trying to share my entire C drive over the network with full access to all directories and files. I encounter a problem when trying to access the files from another computer. I am not able to access the program files, windows, or the user account directory. I have tryed both simple and non-simply sharing and neither will allow me to access these. Can anyone tell me how to enable these files to be accessed.
Currently I am not sure but I have tryed every combination there is including everyone having full control. The only thing I can figure is that there are some permissions I am missing but I do not know where.
Your probably logging on in a guest account, which by default is not allowed to access the directories you mentioned. You could and guest priviledges to those directories or, a safer method would be to create a new account of say power user that has rights in hte dirs you mentioned and log in to the box on the network with that new account instead of guest. Even then some files will still be denied. I do not recommend you make this new account an admin account because you open some severe security issues, even though sharing your %winnt% partition is already a bad idea.

Not so funny is the notion of the guy hoping to access program files and account directory actually getting in. That scenario sounds like the same problem that I am currently dealing with. I have had a hacker accessing my system due to the fact that Nortons sys Works sucks hard and when you know little ref security and networking you are left flapin'. Can I just reinstall the OS I have Dell Dimension 4400. WinXP Home Ed. I got the 256 DRAMM upgrade etc. Hope that is enough info PLEASE HELP!
