If Nprotect is enabled on Norton Protect tab of Recycle Bin properties, and my connection to the Internet is up, the directory c:\recycler\nprotect will fill with files until all available free space is used. Approximately every 60 minutes a large batch of files (over 100) get written to that directory. My temporary fix is to go to the Norton Protect tab of Recycle Bin properties and uncheck "Enable Nprotect". I have to do this each time I restart my computer. Is this a known virus? How do I fix it? Thanks!

Have you checked Symantec's site? How much free space is there on your drive?

I have a 40GB HDD, and at one point I was down to 3% free space because of the files (20GB) in c:\recycler\nprotect. But here is the update - Saturday the online tech at Norton/Symantec removed Norton Internet Security 2008 from my machine and installed Norton Internet Security 2009, mentioning that NIS 2009 "did not interfere with other services". So far, so good...I am keeping my fingers crossed.
