hello, i had norton systemworks 2005 installed and working fine, i had an issue and reformatted my computer. installed everything again, including norton. i entered the same product key and it worked for 15 or os day, when it asked to activate again, and now when it asks to activate i say "activate now". then it says that activation requires internet connection, when i click next, it freezes and can stay like that for days. the only strange thing i notice is that i randomly during the "activation" get messages saying that norton antivirus was unable to perform its actions because it needs to be activated, but im not telling anyone to do any antivirus scans,,,, please help

If you do decide to uninstall Norton, be sure to go to their site and get instructions on TOTAL removal. If you don't do that, you will NEVER get anothe AV to work, beacuse you won't be able to get online.
I've used Avast free for many yrs now and it works great....no muss, no fuss, no $'s...just great online updates and realtime virus protection.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Contact Symantec for assistance. Their Help/Support is pretty good.

I'll second that.

The trouble with ditching Norton is that you will lose the whole of SystemWorks & some bits of it can be quite useful. It is possible to just remove the antivirus component & leave the rest so you could start by using the Symantec on-line support system here - the free on-line chat works quite well & has certainly resolved odd problems I've had in the past. Then, when it's running properly, you can decide whether you want to keep all or part of it. Just for the record, I'm a keen user & advocate of Kaspersky but I hate not using something I've paid for so see if you can get Norton reactivated first.

There is no problem with ditching NOrton. Sure, maybe he'll lose a few dollars but so what? That's experience.
