Norton keeps closing

i ve just read a post that sounds similar to my problem but i am not too sure to be honest, so can anyone help? basically, my Norton 2004 keeps closing just after i have started to use it. it runs for just enough time to find some virus but closes down before i can fix them. I ve ran hijack.exe but dont have a clue what to do after this? any help would be much appreciated

Can you get into the safe mode and then run NAV?

Thanks, I ran NAV whilst in safe mode and it seems to have repaired the probelm. Thanks for your help.
