Norton Internet Security 2004 slow

My ADSL internet connection slowed down exteremly when I installed Norton Internet Security 2004 on my PC (slower than dial up).
However when I removed it the connection is fast. Is anybody else experiencing the same problem and what could be the remedy.

I upgraded to NIS 2004 and it was so bloated with "junk", that my computer was running terribly, also. I ended up uninstalling it and getting a refund and my computer breathed a sigh of relief. I'm now using free AVG and free Zonealarm and like them much better (and the price is definitely right!).
Summary: any one else come across this A normal install of windows xp pro and norton internet security 2004. Everything runs fine for a while stops hacks etc. Then as time goes on say a week web access begins...
