Win 95 and I.E. 5.5 with Norton but only DAT files of 2-27-02..Now, I.E. cannot connect. Keep getting the unable to display page although I can get online-dialup. So thought trying the CD 95 disk would help. CD rom doesn't open. Leads to wondering about virus. Did thorough scan disk--(no errors found)/then did I.E. restore although it never really says it fixed anything--just says to reboot and then it freezes. So, I can't connect to Norton although the dial up does work and I get online (but I.E. will not display any pages). Is there a way to download the current DAT files from Norton onto a floppy and update that way to do a Norton scan with current DAT file? Cleared all Temp files in case something there. Also disabled Norton via msconfig to be sure no issue there but still can't display I.E. pages. Outlook doesn't work either. Thanks in helping this as to suggestion as to why pages not displaying and how to put DAT file onto floppy since I can't access it online..then I would hopefully install them and do a current scan.

In another relted question--can I go into Program Files and I.E. 5.5 setup file and reinstall it via just double clicking on it? Maybe not the issue but if all else fails, would this also work? Thanks

Get another computer with win95, create a boot floppy disk (format a: /s);

With that other PC go to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/defs.download.html

Choose the language and you will be redirected to a page with NAV defs, with the whole definition file or small diskette-size packs.

Your PC could just be misconfigured, by a recently installed program.. Check 'connection' tab in 'Internet Options', etc..

Good luck!

Will try at Norton. Note that the computer does go online but Internet explorer and outlook just won't open. Keep getting 'Page won't display' with any web page--not just home page.

See post Klez.h for a report on someones problem just like yours. If apears there is a new version of Klez getting through the current virus scans. Not picking it up, even though the system is clealy infected just like yours. Getting the can not load URL error message. Try HELP and see if it works. Try doing a boot into Safe Mode and see if that works. While you were in MSCONFIG looking a the Startup, did you see anything there strange.
