On the weekend, I set up a new dial up internet account for my father in law. We reformatted his computer before doing so because he previously had AOL which gave us nothing but headaches and we wanted to start clean. The problem is that Norton Antivirus causes his internet connection prompt to open at startup. I cleared all startup functions in msconfig and put things back in one by one to isolate the problem. Even with automatic updates turned off it still provokes the prompt. It only stops when all of Nortons services are eliminated from the startup. Is there a patch or fix for this? I don't want to disable his antivirus.

Yeah. I found that solution too but I had to wait for confirmation from my father in law that it worked. It did.
Thanks for taking the time to help out.

ccApp.exe is causing the dialing. Apparently it's trying to verify a security certificate. The solution is to go to Internet Explorer Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced Options and disable the checks for Publisher Certificate revocation and Server Certificate Revocation.
I normally disable the 2nd one anyhow because it causes too many hangs when entering secure sites.
