I don't know how or why, but my auto-protect finction is turned off and will not enable no matter what. I'm not getting any error messages or anything....it just won't turn on. My computer is clean of anything as I scanned and removed everything that Norton and Ad-Aware had found, and it wasn't much to begin with, nothing big or famous or anything like that.

"I scanned and removed everything that Norton and Ad-Aware had found, and it wasn't much to begin with"
No, I dont imagine it was!
NOD32 will find find whatever Norton misses as far as virulence goes.
You can also try an online scan such as Trend-Micro and (What are the other ones?)
Did you use Norton's newest bug database that was just released?
Did you have Adaware's update installed?
Try Spybot-Search & Destroy v1.3 (Note to all: Updating spybot 1.2 will not catch as much as downloading the new v1.3)808

OK....I ran all that stuff.....my computer is clean. Only thing is, it won't even let me turn on Auto-Protect now and it wouldn't before....not that it was just disabling itself.....now what??

Use bitdefender and scan for viruses.
I had this problem and it was a variant of netsky virus. It turns off exe files and stopped my nortons turning on. I had to do a format as NO virus program, stinger, bit defender or otherwise could remove this virus.
Bitdefender will be about the only program which will detect it as Stinger wouldnt detect it, Mcafee Antivirus and nortons did nothing (were off and wouldnt turn on since infection).I hope you havent got what I had because me and my dad had to reformat because nothing would remove the damn thing.

OK. I scanned with Bitdefender and it got rid of a nice little trojan that was causing lots of little problems, but my Norton is still weird as far as the auto-protect goes. Should I try a re-install now that I got rid of that trojan?
