i'm using Norton Antivirus 2003. My virus definitions are up-to-date. i need to install Norton Antivirus 2003 on my buddy's computer, but he has dial-up. with his 56k modem it would take a very long time to download all the virus defintions.

is there a way to copy the file/folder where the virus definitions reside so i may put them on his computer and avoid hours of downloading?

A good alternative would be:
Avast! 4 home edition

Has free on-line up-dates as you surf and doesn't bog down your PC and best of all....it's free

If you need a simple solution, try mine. I try to give advise on things that have happened to my PC. Changes in registry can be FATAL! Glad to have a chance to help you.

download the intelligent updater at
symantec.com
that will bring the definitions up to date.
there'll still be a large program update,
that's only available thru liveupdate.

my mate is on dialup and i gave him a lend of norton 2003. i would not worry about how long its going to take or the $ of been on it to long, it will be worth the effort
for your mate to sit down for a while and
download it,after all the security of your pc is paramount...
best wishes
