Norton Antivirus 2004

I want someone to help me figure out why my norton antivirus 2004 will not scan when I start a scan it starts scanning and immediately quits. Iv'e tried numerous times today but can't get it to work. Besides that I went to this post and now I also have a pop sound through speakers when I go to another message what's up with that? I'm a rookie but I'm trying. Help me if you can. Gary

That's virus symptoms. Go to www.trendmicro.com and download "Housecall". Run it and see what it comes up with. Be prepared to wait while the "engine" downloads and scans your system. Another is from Panda at www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ Good luck!

I ran the housecall scan and it found 2 viruses that it won't delete because it says they are still running but I am at a loss as to what to do now?
