gateway m2624u left speaker works fine; but my right has no sound at all. It never made any negative noise or static; just nothing comes out from it.

If they have, have you dropped the laptop, or have you spilled liquid on it, since you last have sound from both sides ?

RIGHT click on the speaker icon in your Taskbar lower right corner of the main desktop screen.
Click on Audio devices
On the default Playback screen, double click on the default sound device – the one with the green checkmark.
Click on the Levels tab.
Click on Balance on the first line shown – the Levels for both L and R should be the same.

Programs that can change sound volumes and the L – R balance of sound are not supposed to affect the sound settings of anything else when they’re not running, but rarely the program is not written properly and it DOES affect the sound settings of other programs.
Make sure the balance of all such programs is not set to one side.
