I have windows XP and when I started my system there was no desktop icon or taskbar or start menu, even right click and left click were not working. Only I could open anything from Ctrl+Alt+Del task menu and from there I tried to open the explorer.exe it stated "Windows cannot find '(null)' . When I went to regedit HKLM->software->microsoft->windows->current version-> then there was no WINLOGON folder what should I do Please help:(

sorry I found in the regedit HKLM->software->microsoft->windowsNT->current version->winlogon and the value of Shell is explorer.exe still nothing is working, no desktop, no rightclickor left click working only the wallpaper is there and the mouse pointer is moving. I even ran the norton anti-virus spyware program it detected some and fixed it but still the condition is same can anyone please help

Try to boot your computer in safe mode(restart the computer and press F8 and select safe mode) and check icon are showing or not. You should scan your computer with Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php (start the computer with safe mode with networking).
