No desktop icons and or start toolbar

Specs: Windows XP
Please help!! My antivirus software detected a trojan and quarantined it, had me try and remove it and then required restart. Upon restart I lost my desktop icons and my Windows start toolbar. What can I do to fix my machine?

Great thanks, I got in an rescanned and now my antivirus shows I have Spy-Agent.bw!mem. How can i remove this from my machine?

First you open your computer then press CTRL+ALT+DEL>task manager>Application>open new task> then type explorer.exe
