Hi guys, I'm taking Norton Security Suite 2007 for a trial spin and so far it's right up my alley. I do have one thing that is on my mind, though it may not be anything to be paranoid about at all.

You see, I went to GRC.com to test my ports as I often do when trying out a new firewall. Much to my satisfaction, I'm all stealthed up. What got my attention is that Norton never popped up any warnings about said port scan, even though I had that feature checked as enabled.

I go into the logs and sure enough the scans are there and they were blocked, but I was never informed about it. Now, just so everything is clear, I'm not behind a router ( I know, I should be, when I get 80 bucks I'll grab one :-) , so Norton SHOULD be speaking up, shouldn't it?

One thing is for sure, it's the quietest firewall I have ever run, I never get bugged about my browser wanting to connect, it also let
s my backup anti-spyware update without a single hitch. Despite all the "Norton haters" chiming in on how this and that sucks, I myself think Norton is showing a turn for the better with this release, but that's a humble opinion.

I'm kind of testing new suites out as I'm getting kind of tired of having a dozen security apps. So far I've only tried Norton, though I may try ZoneAlarm also. Norton, at least in the latest reviews I could find, seemed to fare a little better overall.

So anyway, need I be worried?

Give it time.... it might be up your alley in more ways than one, lol.

Anyways I never used it, but have you looked carefully at the preferences & configurations of it? Maybe there is a setting somewhere that you overlooked?

Lol, Clammer, you couldn't be more right. This thing won't even keep the rules I set up for more than a half hour before it somehow changes back to default. This thing sucks, moving on :-)
