Comment:

Trojan Remover is changing again with the program itself to be able to adapt for all configuration created by hackers to spread into computers with Trojan's horses, here is the last details:
Trojan Remover - Update
-------------
Distribution: Update program ONLY - Trojan Remover must already
be installed
Version: 4.9.6 - 10th January 2003
Copyright (c) 1999-2002 Simply Super Software - All Rights Reserved
-------------

1. What's New
-----------------------

Version 4.9.6
-----------------------
a) Added a routine to remove the registry keys created by the Remote Access Trojan JEEM.

b) Updated the integral Updater program. In future (i.e. after this update) Program Updates, the main program file will be firstly downloaded in a zipped format, and then automatically extracted. This decreases the size of the download. This will become more important when Trojan Remover 5.x is released, which will have a considerably larger program size.

c) Fixed a long-standing bug in Trojan Remover's Context Menu shell extensions program. Previously, if Trojan Remover was set to allow scans from within Windows Explorer, right-clicking on a shortcut to another computer on a local network would cause Windows Explorer to crash and reset.

** Note ** - the above updates replace Trojan Remover components that are normally in use when you update, so it is possible you will be asked to reboot your PC to complete the update.

Version 4.9.5
-----------------------
a) Added a routine to rename the additional files created by the Remote Access Trojan ASASSIN 1.1.

Version 4.9.4
-----------------------
a) Added a routine to rename the additional file found to be dropped by the trojan DOWNLOADER-BN.B.

b) Added a routine to rename the additonal files dropped by the Internet Worm YAHA.k.

c) Incorporated new anti-crack security measures into the main executable programs. This is designed to make Trojan Remover less susceptible to theft by program "crackers". This is the beginning of a process which will eventually lead to major changes in the registration process for Trojan Remover. Details of these changes will be provided nearer the time of their implementation.

-------------

3. Known Issues/Conflicts
-------------------------
(1) You should disable any memory-resident virus scanner (such as AVP Monitor, McAfee System Scan etc) before running scans with Trojan Remover. When Trojan Remover opens a file to scan it, if another antivirus program is running it could conflict with Trojan Remover. You can re-enable your standard antivirus scan after Trojan Remover has completed its own scan.

(2) When running cpu-intensive background programs such as Seti@home and the United Devices distributed computing project, Trojan Remover's scan speed can be substantially degraded. You should consider temporarily disabling such programs before running a scan.
