Yesterday I came home and found a fax from this company: www.beyourownbossfromhome.com/

How these people got my fax number I have no idea. I have never posted it anywhere.

Is this the new thing - tele-spam? What will these creeps think of next!!

Has anyone else had this happen?

if you've ever given out your fax number,
it made the list and has been sold.
depending on your telco, sometimes you can get a new number for as little as $5. or free
if you get a nice customer support person.

It sure aint new.. FAX spam was around way before email spam :) but most of the spammers went the email route because its free.

Actually, FAX spam is againt the law. By law the fax must list the phone number it came from.

This has been happening for a long time...
believe me... even Law Enforcement faxes get the Vacation of a life time deal by fax unsolicited.

don't know how to stop it....
other than .... if they do list their phone number... you can 'black fax' them back.

use a black piece of paper and fax them back... it will run out their ink supply/toner very fast.

Well, these creeps broke the law because there is no fax number on here where it came from, however there is a number to call to be removed from the list.

I love Tank863's suggestion - I had their fax number on my caller ID but I cleared it. :(

Suzi,

You do that once and you will never get another piece of spam fax from them again...

tried and tested... works like a charm..

Tank, were you being facetious? :)

I did try to call the 800 number and got a recording directing me to call a 900 number. Like I'm gonna do that! So I am trying to figure out who I can file a complaint with. I wrote the wrong url for their website above, (not that anyone wants to go there and check it out - lol). I looked it up with verisign whois and got the name of the company at least and their email contacts.

I hope they do send me more faxes, then I will write down their fax number from my caller ID and fax them a ream of white paper!!

A feller I know did this after telling the junk FAX'er several times: printed 'I SAID NO MORE JUNK FAXES' in 48 point type on 4 or 5 pages, put the paper in his fax machine, and taped the top and bottom together to make an endless loop. Dialed the offending number back and when it answered between outgoing FAX'es hit the 'send' button.
Worked, too...he found the machine shut down the next morning so he dialed the number and someone quite irate answered.
