Hello everyone...new member here. I have a question regarding a new sort of "popup" that has taken over my system.
I switched from dial-up to cable modem (finally!) and received a free security package from my cable company. The package came with a pop-up blocker that has been unbelievably helpful as far as blocking the actual ads that "pop up" while you browse. However, it seems as though I have traded one problem for another. Now, when I attempt to navigate from page to page on a website, every maybe 5 clicks or so, I am "redirected" to an ad site! It's so annoying! And it will say "Please take a moment to visit our sponsor. you will be redirected to www....(whatever the site is i was trying to go to to begin with)and starts a 10-second countdown clock. then, only after ten seconds, i can click on a link on the ad to take me to where i originally wanted to go. if i try to hit the back button on the browser, it wont let me out, it just reloads a different ad. the worst part is that if i was trying to submit information, such as posting a message on myspace, and i am "redirected", all of my information is lost and i have to go back and repost. i have noticed it always happens on myspace so i have to click and copy my message before submitting in case i get redirected. more info on the popup, the url is "www.gleaned.com/affiliatetarget/......i actually went to gleaned.com and it was a search engine. i looked through my computer and have ran a couple of scans and havent seen anything with this name on it to delete. my virus scan doesnt seem to recognize it as adware/spyware. if anyone knows how i can get rid of this, i would greatly appreciate it. please let me know if you can! thanks!!!
ps-good thing i cut and paste this because it just did it as i submitted the message! i have to fill out the rest of the form all over again!

Aren;t hose wnderful people who do this kind ofstuff? And your cable company is part of it.

That being said, download HiJack This and and run a scan.

Do a search in these forums on where to paste the log file.

Or you can post it here and someone will walk you thru getting rid of that crap.

run all the scans in safe mode, when your computer is booting up tap the F8 key continuously then choose safe mode then run these programs then delete what you need to

First of all, make sure you have a good firewall working for you. Then what I would do is use
Crap cleaner
and remove all your temp files. Most spyware hide in these temp places. You may have to do your spyware scans in safe mode

Be EXTRA carefull if you use HJT, it could really mess up your PC if you're not careful.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
