Try running your scanning programs with system restore temporarily disabled and make sure you have enabled viewing of hidden files, folders and extentions when you scan. Also you should reboot to safe mode and run scans. There are lots of freeware programs available to do this. Panda online, Symantec Security Check, Trend Micro Online,McAfee Avert Stinger, just to name a few. If you are infected you should find something scanning this way. Once you've cleaned up any infestations and you still have the problems you will need to run Hijack This to see whats running when you start windows.

Windows XP always backs up your system settings so you may restore them if you have a problem. If your system is infected with trojans, viruses, parasites, etc. even though you remove them, the next time you reboot they will be back. that's why you want to temporarily disable system restore when you scan your system and delete any malware so that it doesn't return. the website www.majorgeeks.com has an excellent article on how to properly scan your system. Go to it and click on "Support Forum" and then scroll down and click to "Spyware Specific". Then click and read the sticky thread "read me first before asking for support". It is an excellent tutorial.

1) Right click My Computer on your desktop, select properties. On the System Properties box, click the System Restore tab. Put a check in the Turn off System Restore on all drives.
2) Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.
3) Folllow the directions.

Morning Goki, You forgot to mention whether you have been doing normal maintenance on your computer. TRY running SFC/SCANNOW from the COMMAND PROMPT first. Then go to Internet Options in the CONTROL PANEL and cleanout cookies,temporary files,history,then run disc cleanup, and then run Defragment. Normal maintenace can speed up the computer. just my 2 cents, XDon
