I have been using broadband for a little over a year with no problems, but I have recently moved and am now forced to use dial-up. When I went to the network properties and tried to add the Dial-up adapter, the option to add a network adapter was no longer there. I then used to dial-up wizard to get around this problem; however, the tcp/ip>dial-up properties were missing some of the tabs. I tried removing all network adapters and settings. Then I restarted, and the computer found my network card and installed it. When I got to my desktop, an error appeared saying something about pokemon.exe and sockets (I forgot to write it down.) I have downloaded games from Kazzaa in the past, and one of them ended up being a program called pokemon.exe. The program did not visibly do anything, but I couldn't delete it because it always said the system was using it. I was finally able to delete it, but the problems with my network and dial-up settings persist. Nortan System Check came up with a shortcut error after I deleted the program. The error said that pokemon.exe had been tied to the system tray. Any help on this subject is greatly appreciated.

Hello JQ, not much information about this program called "pokemon.exe", but some are related as this program would be in fact a trojan virus hidden under a game or a screensaver. Watch all articles talking about it using the research motor : www.google.com and ask for POKEMON.EXE, many questions not totally proved, but be careful with the kazaa site. here is exemple of articles mentioning "pokemon.exe" as a virus hidden behind a screensaver: http://lockdowncorp.com/trojandemo.html http://www.cse.cuhk.edu.hk/~csc5470/lecture.notes/Virus.ppt http://www.noel16.freeserve.co.uk/spreader.html http://www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/2732.html http://www.viruslist.com/eng/viruslist.html?id=51727 http://www.virus-scan-software.com/latest-virus-software/latest-viruses/w32spear-c-worm.shtml
