Comment:

I keep getting this net.exe pop-up every 30 minutes stating, "Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application." Then, I can't do much with the computer but to restart it...

Is it a virus? I scanned the computer with couple software that I downloaded, but it wouldn't pick up anything specific relating to the error... What do I need to do to fix the problem?...

Is it a virus?
Could be. It could also mean you need a firewall/turn XP's firewall on.
