Net won't work after system restore on vista?

a few days ago we realized we had somehow got the 'personal antivirus' virus on my compaq laptop. It kept popping up advising we had viruses and in order to fix have to purchase their software etc. We goodled n found it was a virus before we paid any $$ but it stopped our net from working. It blocked web pages. So we attempted to delete it but didn't seem to fix the net problem. So we attempted a system recovery but now the net won't work at all! I have uninstalled n reinstalled our wireless USB net n it just says wepage not found u are having connection issues! What is wrong with it?! Grrrrrrr it's so frustrating! Any advice?
