Problem: Can't run Windows Updates, can't log into any sites that require a userid/password, can't run LiveUpdate.

Tried: Ad-Aware, SpyBot, SpyBlaster, SystemWorks, CWShredder, HijackThis. Also tried fix-its from forums & Microsoft regarding Windows Updates error msg. Also running minimum apps in MSCONFIG.

Could it be the following item from the HijackThis log?
O16 - DPF: {75D1F3B2-2A21-11D7-97B9-0010DC2A6243} (SecureLogin.SecureControl) -

Thank you.

If you don't recognise the Url then have HJT remove it - these are activeX components from downloaded programs which you may or may not have intended to install.

It may be your firewall blocking it. I know of problems that Sygate had regarding that issue.

Thanks to both for the info.

Tried both fix-its. Didn't work. Think ActiveX controls are messed up. Have noticed a hang-up on IUCTL.CAB on bottom status bar when Windows Updates trying to load. Problem is, all recommended Microsoft fix-its haven't worked regarding IUCTL/IUENGINE.DLLS

Someone else had a firewall problem like I stated, here was the fix

For the Sygate Home GHP
Set “Generic Host Process for Win32 Services” (svchost.exe) in the running applications window to allow.

Right click on Sygate in the system tray go to applications… > right click on “Generic Host Process for Win32 Services” (svchost.exe) go to advanced… > uncheck “Act as Server” then ok.
