Need to do a complete wipeout of pc

Some viruses have taken over my pc. It actually may be more than viruses. But something is REALLY slowing my computer down. I am ready and willing to wipe it clean. But does formatting the drives take care of all of that? Or is there something else I need to do to make sure the registry is cleaned out? I think that if I can start fresh, reinstall Windows, and the other programs--carefully...we should be able to start again at square 1. It just seems that a format of the drives will not get EVERYTHING.

Use your Dell Recovery/Reinstall CD to restore the system to Factory Settings. Boot to the Cd and follow the prompts.
Keep in mind, all your data will be removed, so you should back that up first.

Use Dban: http://www.dban.org/ It's free and will wipe the slate clean I've used it many times. Dell recovery CD's don't really wipe the Hard drive clean....this tool does.

I use Darik's Boot 'n Nuke too (from dban.org) It wipes the drive compleletly, so you better have a restore or boot disk because it will be clean, no partitions, etc.
