Need proper settings for dbl protection

Specs: Windows XP Home 32, 1.73GHz//0.99GB
Ok, I need to knoiw what or if any settings needed to be specific in any way when running antivirus programs. i just installed mcafee security suite and ie 8 security settings as well

First thing I would do is dump's just a big resource hog since you only have .99GB ram

Avast free would be a good one to use, better real-time protection, regular updates daily and no scheduled scans, what more could you ask for?

If IE8 doesn't slow you down, that's great. If it takes a long time to open, I would suggest to revert to IE7, it is not so bogged down.
You could also add Spyware Blaster to your arsenal, it works great with all other programs.
