It's 4:41am. Do you know where searchv is? It's driving me up the wall. Also, how do I removed msupdater.exe? I did a search and deleted that and some other file with the same name but different extension yet this thing won't go away. Here's the skinny:

I'm not really sure I understand abnormal's responses. What worked to clear this from your computer? I sure would appreciate any help if you could make it slightly more idiot-proof (for a less computer savvy idiot like me). Will the spywareblaster do it, or do I need to do something, myself?
Thanks for any help.

I need help with this trojan. I have used spybot and spywareblaster, and searchv is still coming up. I have posted my hack this log below, any help would be a great help.

Computer dummy,
For Searchv hijacks, run Hijack This from http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and tick all lines that have this in it.

It is "abnormal" how much you know about this abnormal!!! Thanks. By reading your responses, I am searchv free! You da man!

after deleting files to get rid of searchv, which i have now successfully done, i think, i downloaded spyblaster. i am getting a message, though, at the completion of the download that says "Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid".
I may have deleted something I shouldn't have. Can anyone be of help with this?

babylon5, I just looked at your post,
I know you found your answer on the xp forum. For others looking, you can get the file
at the bottom of the SpywareBlaster site.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate that their are people out there that like helping people. I did the Hijack and no more SEARCHV (sorry if I yelled that but it was getting on my nerves). Okay just wanted to know that the last part where you said to delete the files in safe mode which were as follows:
Find and delete these files/folders
MSupdater.exe
winlogon.exe
sys.reg
winshow folderI went into regedit to this. Now my question was it safe for me to do that? I would appreciate the reply. Thank you again.
