Please help. My computer is infected with Ads123, MyWebSearch and who knows what else. I've run Adaware and Spybot, but neither fixed the problems. Here is the Logfile from Hijack This:

I don't do Windows 2000, but you have the root of all AD evil, WebRebates on your system. It sucks other Trojans and AD software in.

Plus you are using a back level of HijackThis. You need to get version 1.98.2 before posting a log to the world showing you are using backlevel software.

Which leads me to wonder how backlevel your Microsoft Security Updates are, as they help block some of this from getting on to your system. And what backlevel or un-updated version of Ad-Aware SE and Spybot 1.3 are you using? Having the newest versions of these two programs and having them updated online should have been able to take care of most of that stuff.

Suggest you first kill any references to WebRebates (just for fun, they will come back) and delete the Program Files folder for WebRebates. Would be best to do this from Safe Mode. This will help the system run a little better.

Then make sure you have Ad-Aware SE v1.05 installed and updated online, and Spybot S&D v1.3 with the online updates installed. And a good Anti-Virus scanner installed.

Then, UNPLUG from the Internet, reboot into Safe Mode and first run the updated Spybot and delete all that it finds. After it runs clean, then run Ad-Aware and delete all the stuff it finds. Next run an Virus scan.

Then boot into normal mode and repeat the scans. Then try a HijackThis log and see what is left. Save a copy of it to compare.

Now, connect back to the Internet and do a few Online virus and trojan scans. Then do some of the Microsoft Windows Updates and make sure you have all of the Security updates for Windows and IE. When done, do a new HijackThis log and compare it with the first one and see what has come back. Maybe update and run the Adware/Spybot programs again. From there and the last HiJackThis log, seek help if necessary.

Bur alway update your scanning programs and run all of them before posting a HijackThis log. There is just too much there to wade through that can be handled with updated scanners.
