need free antivirus recommendation

CPU/Ram: p4 512MB
Product: dell / dimension

i've been baby sitting someone elses wfw 3.11 machine for several years

now, i'm trying to keep their Windows XP Home machine functional

Their Norton Anti Virus Subscription expired

Should I insist they renew, change to McAffee or try a free ware AntiVirus Program??

Are any of the Freeware Antivirus programs any good??

I need a recommendation please

I would recommend they get nod32.

Is a very good antivirus/antimalware program
it is $40 online

i downloaded and installed Avast last night
and found the download link for AVG

we shall see how Avast works

i think i'm going to recommend a non microsoft OS

does linux / lindows have these type of security issues??

what about IBM PC/OS2, et al???

MAC? /APPLE??

Solaris/Sun/Cisco??

BeOS/....???

There are allot of free ones out there,
AVG/ Avast/Bitdefender/ ClamWin ...
There are others as well, just do a google search.. Or Check here:
